Greenwich Police say they were patrolling the area of Mill Street between South Water Street and Mead Avenue when a vehicle was observed crossing over the painted double-yellow line on Mill Street on Thursday, July 11 around 3 a.m.
A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was identified as David Aguirre-Salazar, 35, of Fairfield, according to police.
During interviewing, police say Aguirre-Salazar showed clear signs of impairment. He was asked to perform a series of standard field sobriety tests, which police say he did not pass.
Aguirre-Salazar was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation of an unregistered motor vehicle
- Illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs
- Failure to drive in proper lane
Aguirre-Salazar was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Thursday, July 25.
